About Geisha Music
Geisha Music is about developing a creative atmosphere that will encourage new musical hybrids to be born. The word geisha consists of two "kanji" – gei meaning art and sha meaning doer. The current beta version of our Soundlab features FM synthesis, a sampler with multisample support and a compact sequencer. Everything is still being built from ground up, so watch this space for updates.
The concept behind Geisha Music was born a few years ago in a small studio in Punavuori, Helsinki. A team of sound designers and musicians got together and started to dream big. In collaboration with Flash experts and GUI designers they have since created a method for creating music within an internet browser, along with the first community features.
Keeping in mind though, the current version of our service is at an early beta stage. It already offers tools for creating and sharing sounds, while the future Geisha Music versions will provide more tools for different types of realtime collaboration between its users. Geisha Music is funded by The Foundation for Finnish Innovations, The Finnish Funding Agency for Technology and Innovation, Avek/Ministry of Education and Culture and MOI! Sounds From Suomi. A big thank you!
